I’m Frank and I’ll be your guide as you, and your neighbors, get set to Catch Savings in Preston.
What are we going fishing
for you ask?
Well, we’re going after the big one, one for the Record
Books - the Compact Fluorescent Lamp, or more commonly known as CFL.
Where can these CFLs be found?
I’ve been tracking
these lamps for a while and trust me when I say we can definitely reel
in the savings right here in Preston thanks to Preston Public Utilities.
PPU is providing each household they serve with up to 50 FREE
CFLs, a $140 value, to replace your energy-guzzling incandescent
bulbs as together we make a difference in becoming more efficient
- saving energy, money, and the environment!
What’s the catch, you ask?
Well the catch is the
BIG ONE when you supply the right bait, which on this trip is simply
a list and a promise . . . a list of each of the current incandescent
bulbs in your home and a promise to install the CFLs by May 2009.
Well, what if I shared with you that the savings you could catch are all keepers? Replacing your incandescent bulbs with CFLs can save you up to $110 each year. Further savings can be caught since CFLs last up to ten times longer than regular bulbs. While these savings are significant, if all your neighbors also switched to CFLs, the savings in Preston would be gigantic!
In fact, Preston Public Utilities estimates if every household were to Catch Savings, Preston would save enough energy to power 100 homes each year.
In addition to saving money and energy, you’ll be helping the environment. Saving all that energy means you’ll help protect the Earth for future generations including your kids and grandkids.
In early February, the community order for CFLs will be placed, and then we wait to reel in the savings. From April 20 through April 24, the BIG ONE arrives... your free CFLs will be delivered to your home! Based on the Lighting Inventory Form you’ve completed, you’ll receive a listing of which CFL goes into each area of your home.
If you have any questions, just contact the fine folks at our local electric utility at 765-2491. You can also email me your questions.
Good luck and don’t let the big
one get away!
